Driving Safety Reminders
- Be alert & slow your speed in residential neighborhoods and school zones.
- Be sure to take some additional time to look around for children at intersections, on medians, and curbs.
- During morning and after school hours, watch for children close to the road.
- As always, reduce distractions inside your car. Concentrate on the road and your surroundings.
- You should be doing this already, but put down your phone. Don’t text or talk while driving.
Bus Safety Reminders
- Vehicles & Motorists are required to stop when they see a stopped school bus with flashing red lights. The STOP sign will be extended from driver’s side of bus, as well.
- All motorists must stop behind, or oncoming, when a bus is stopped with the red lights flashing and STOP sign extended, unless there is a raised physical barrier, or 5 feet of space separating the lane.
- Children should wait for their school bus away from the road in a designated safe area.
- Never walk behind a running bus.
